Snoop says: rewizzle your vidizzles

Sign behind the counter at Vulcan Video.

Rewizzle Vidizzles Foshizzle Bizzles

I understood that REWIZZLE VIDIZZLES meant "rewind videos", but not even the Vulcan staff could explain FOSHIZZLE BIZZLES. Consulting UrbanDictionary.com I conclude that it means "for sure, b*tches" or, if you prefer, "indeed, please do, kind customers".

God bless Vulcan. 2-for-1 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays rock and it seems like I'm always getting free rental. So what if it takes a while to get some of the new releases, at least I'm not supporting those fascists at Blockbuster.

I'm fairly certain it means "for sure b*tches," since "fo shizzle my nizzle" ( or, for that matter, "fo sheezy my neezy") means "for sure my n****r". Have you seen that segment from Doggy Fizzle Televizzle where Snoop teaches an ESL class to adults?

Chris, you should work at Vulcan! :-)

Prentiss, one of my more humiliating post-collegiate experiences was learning that, despite my new BA in Film and Video, I was apparently underqualified for a job at a video store.

I'm not much of a movie watcher these days, and I wish I had learned of Vulcan sooner. Last semester, I took History of Broadcasting, and I asked the professor if I could do my research paper on Knight Rider. The professor thought it was a good and underexamined topic, but worried that I would have a hard time finding episodes. I checked the RTF library, and, after laughing his ass off, the librarian told me we don't have any old Knight Rider shows. Discouraged, I found another topic.

But I went into Vulcan over the Christmas break, and, lo and behold, they have a collection of Knight Rider episodes on DVD! I could have written the paper after all!

Vulcan is missing a bet: they should set up an internship program for RTF majors. Then they wouldn't have to pay them any more.

After thinking about it, I think Snoop himself would actually say, "Rewizzle yo vidizzles, bizzles. Foshizzle." Don't ask my why I was thinking about it.

Somewhere, there's a thesis being written on predicting the correct phrasing and punctuation of these very same five words. The thought makes me shudder and giggle at one and the same time.

Just a couple of days ago I got email from someone who saw my car and called it "off the hizzle fa shizzle." Georg thought that meant "off the hook for sure" and I guess he was right!

Sarah [sarah cxe thefool punkto com] • 2004.03.01
actually I just looked at the message again and he called my car "off the hizzi fa shizzi." I'm thinking that probably means the same thing.

Sarah [sarah cxe thefool punkto com] • 2004.03.01
I'm dizzle with the izzi and the izzle, foshizzle, but what in the hizzle does "off the hook" mean? :-)

Prentiss Riddle [riddle cxe io punkto com] • 2004.03.01
Urban Dictionary says it means "wow, that's cool." I heard someone say it while I was waiting in line at the DMV and that's what it sounded like they meant.

Sarah Ovenall [sarah cxe thefool punkto com] • 2004.03.01
I'll admit to using "off the hook" fairly regularly in normal conversation. From context, I thought it meant "Beyond normal expectations," as in like, "That party was off the hook!" I have no idea what it refers to, except maybe in the sense of "The phone was ringing off the hook." Lately, I've heard local radio DJ's say "Off the chain," which I've integrated into my parole. Here I think the reference is to restraining dogs, but I could be wrong. I'm reminded of how "Get your groove on" got played out, so people migrated to "Get your freak on." People may have similarly decided "chain" was preferable to "hook."
